The Aguará Center is currently prioritizing its role in rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing wildlife throughout the Province of Corrientes.

The Corrientes Provincial Wildlife Recovery Center, known as Aguará, is part of the Corrientes Ecological Complex, covering 32 hectares and housing over 120 animal specimens.

It is located near Paso de la Patria, at kilometer 20 along a gravel road accessible from National Route 12. It’s important to note that, as of December 2017, the center was elevated to the rank of a Directorate, reporting to the Ministry of Tourism, along with the Directorate of Parks and Reserves and the Directorate of Natural Resources.

The Aguará Conservation Center experience for the public, educational communities, and tourists is a proposal focused on the care and protection of regional wildlife, using environmental education as a primary tool to preserve the Natural Heritage of Corrientes.

The main function of the Center is the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of native species that are injured or at risk and arrive as a result of operations against wildlife trafficking, poaching, pet trade, and animal abuse, with the aim of reintroducing them to their natural environment.

The Center has a stable collection of animals that, due to their conditions in captivity, cannot be returned to their habitat. These animals play a fundamental role in educating and raising awareness among visitors through their stories, emphasizing that their exhibition is not for recreational purposes.

The species receive the necessary nutrition and stimulation to live as naturally as possible, through environmental enrichment that enhances the psychological and physical well-being of the animals in captivity.

For some time, the Conservation Center has been part of the species reintroduction projects carried out by the Rewilding Argentina Foundation in the Gran Iberá Park, providing facilities for quarantine and flight training for red macaws.
