In Guaraní, Itá means “stone” and Corá means “corral.” It is a stony quadrilateral structure that was used to shelter livestock and facilitate their passage to Paraguay. Similar structures were built at various points along the Paraná coast as stations for gathering and changing horses.
Today, these rocks are covered by the Paraná River’s waters and can be seen when the water level drops. They are located near the intersection of Av. Tomas Sta. Coloma and Virreyna Street.
